This is the first Christmas where Tommy gets it. He understands that a day is coming where he will be given gifts that are expected to include toys for him to play with. He sat on Santa’s lap the other day and pressed for him when he wanted, he replied, “I want everything.”
His face looks like he regrets the decision but it is not the first or last time he has said it. In fact, he asks me a lot to get everything he sees on TV or in the store window.
Unfortunately for him, he lives in a city condo where space is a precious commodity. This holiday season, as “Santa” we are seriously considering new gifts because we feel we have zero space but do not need to be completed.
Now that Tommy is a super active almost 4-year-old boy, he needs to play, run and jump. When he has snow days from school, we usually can’t go outside but still, we have very little room for him to take out this energy.
This holiday season, I knew I wanted to get something for Tommy so that we could be together and play indoors together.
Little Ticks has always been about making the best toys on the planet and makes some of the most cherished toys of childhood. Parents trusted for 50 years, they don’t just make toys, they play!
They reached out to me in November to see if I wanted to support the holidays. I immediately said yes because we already own some of their toys and use many more on city playgrounds such as the Cozy Coupe and Totesport Easy Score basketball sets. I began searching for my toy option for the boys in my house to entertain all winter long.
If we had more space or backyard, I might have been tempted to choose Playhouse, Shop N Learn Smart Checkout or Wonder Lab, because I love the component of learning and imagination in these sets, but my jumping. Knowing volley beans, I very quickly saw the right toy.
Little Ticks knows that staying active is important for toddlers, and the 3-foot trampoline is easy to move so that children can bounce wherever they want. It comes in two different versions, one that is easy to store with a handlebar that is at the bottom for easy storage and one with a secure handlebar.
Luckily for Tommy, Santa came early with this gift and it is the most used toy that we have added to our collection. He is a jumping animal. I tried to take it out of the middle of his playing area one night and he realized it as soon as he woke up.
I do not exaggerate when I say, he lives for his trampoline. He splits, he tries to do tricks that love animated jumps more but I haven’t loved Tommy as much as this toy since the birth of his brother. I swear that by the time we start the trampoline, he too falls asleep quickly. I have no scientific proof for this but I promise !!!
Morning and night, you can find Tommy jumping. Even if this post was not in collaboration with Little Bike, I would recommend parents of all children to get a mini trampoline for their home. It is very important for them to be active and whether it is the time of day to keep you indoors or the siblings have an afternoon nap, it is a good way for them to take their energy out in a safe environment where the whole family can roam is.
Additionally, my niece is on the autism spectrum and my sister bought a trampoline for her based on recommendations from a physician. It can provide many benefits, including providing a safe, comfortable outlet for their energy, but helps them cope with stress, with motor skills and sensory skills to name a few. I first noticed the appreciation of Tommy’s jumping when we would travel and I found him using his cousin’s trampoline. It is not only fun and something physical for children, but trampolines also help in social and physical development.
Lately, I’ve been putting up Christmas music as Connor and I jump together and Tommy. I keep telling my friends that I will tell them that if Tommy is bored with his trampoline, but in a month, he is yet to overcome his excitement.
